Cellist Zoe Knighton is one of Australia’s most dynamic musicians, and I am thrilled to have formed a long-term duo with this wonderful player. After our first successful series of concerts in 2009 performing the complete works for cello and piano by Felix Mendelssohn in celebration of the bicentenary of his birth, we have gone one step further and recorded the program onto CD.

This new release from Move Records, ‘Mendelssohn Cello’, wouldn’t have been possible without the vision and generosity of Mr. Richard Gubbins.

Amir graduates with distinction from the Royal College of Music

In 2008-09, Amir attended the Royal College of Music London, one of the world’s most prestigious music institutions. Here he undertook a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance, studying with Professor Andrew Ball.

He completed the course in July 2009, graduating with distinction - the highest class awarded by the College.

4/11/08 - Amir makes his London Solo Recital debut

On 4th November 2008, Amir Farid presented his debut solo recital in London. This was held at the beautiful ‘St. Martin in the Fields’ in Trafalgar Square, which is among London’s most loved and important performance venues.

The program included works by Brahms, Vine, Ravel, Maroufi and Prokofiev.

The Royal College of Music London, one of the world’s most prestigious music institutions, will be Amir’s new home for 10 months. Commencing September 2008, Amir will be undertaking postgraduate studies at the College with Professor Andrew Ball.
