This year is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Felix Mendelssohn. He wrote two masterpieces for cello and piano - the Sonatas Op 45 and 58. They are notable for their wonderful melodic lines and their virtuosic instrumental writing. It is a great Festival treat to hear both Sonatas together, played by two of Melbourne’s finest young players.
Zoe Knighton is cellist with Flinders Quartet, a core player with Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, and Artistic Director of the Montsalvat Concert Series.
Amir Farid is known as a soloist and chamber music player particularly with the Benaud Trio. He made his London solo debut last year.
A special Anniversary concert.
