Sydney Symphony debut - Flower of Youth

June 4, 2009
7:00 pm

I am thrilled to be making my Sydney Symphony debut in June 2009 with one of Mozart’s rarely heard gems, the Concerto No.14 in Eb K449, directed by Michael Dauth (violin).

Mozart and Mendelssohn didn’t live long enough to grow old, but their music has survived the ages. Mendelssohn’s Octet was the work of a 16-year-old – it’s perfect in its mastery but it’s also fresh and full of imagination.

Mozart was the grand age of 28 when he wrote this piano concerto, but he too came up with something fresh: a new sense of intimacy in what was normally a very ‘public’ genre.

Date: Thursday June 4th, 2009.

Time: 7pm.

Venue: City Recital Hall, Angel Place.

Program:

  • Mendelssohn: Octet for strings
  • Mozart: Piano Concerto No.14 in E flat, K449
