Melbourne is slowly returning to its old self, with regular live performances becoming the norm once again. The Melbourne Digital Concert Hall is no exception with concerts abound, including the new Kawai Piano Series. I am delighted and honoured to be taking part in this series with a recital on Wednesday March 17th 2021 at 7pm (AEDT). The program will include two workhorses of the piano repertoire - the Chopin 1st Ballade and the Beethoven Waldstein sonata. I am also excited to present a new work by exciting US composer Anawim Avila, entitled The Accumulation. It will be wonderful to see you there, live at the Atheneum in Melbourne! Otherwise, as always with MDCH, you can watch the concert in the comfort of your own home. If it is inconvenient for you to watch the concert at its prescribed time (I’m thinking of all my dear friends in New York amongst others!), MDCH now support delayed viewing, where your purchased ticket allows you to view the concert for up to 72 hours after the concert has ended. Please refer to the MDCH FAQ page for more information. Hope you can make it, either in person or online! CLICK HERE FOR BOOKINGS AND DETAILS Finally - live audiences!! That’s right - this Melbourne Digital Concert Hall recital will be aired online as usual, with a limited live audience. If you want to experience live music again, please book early - spaces are limited! It is with excitement that we can present this concert to you through MDCH. I’ll be joining cellist Zoe Knighton and Clarinettist Lloyd Van’t Hoff in a program of various combinations and styles. Hope to see you there, whether virtually or in person! I am deeply grateful once again to the incredible Melbourne Digital Concert Hall for their continued support of artists all around Australia. Please join us this Thursday 5th November at 7pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time) to hear a program of works by two Romantic giants, Schubert and Chopin, as well as a 21st century re-imagining by Stuart Greenbaum of harmonic fragments by these composers. Schubert: Moments Musicaux D.780, Nos. 1-3 Greenbaum: Allusion, introspection and Ascension Chopin: Ballade No.4 in F minor, Op.52 For more details and ticket purchases, please click here to be taken to the MDCH website. For those of you in an inconvenient time zone (e.g. New York, where the recital would air at 4am, ouch), please email me directly to organise a delayed broadcast at a more convenient time. Hope you are able to tune in, and please stay safe. Hi friends! For the Melbourne Digital Concert Hall this Friday, I will be joining cellist Zoe Knighton, one of Australia’s most dynamic cellists. July 11th and 12th 2020 The Concourse Concert Hall, Chatswood NSW, Australia Click here for ticketing and further details Dr Nicholas Milton AM conductor Amir Farid piano Willoughby Symphony Orchestra PROGRAM: Mendelssohn Ruy Blas Overture, Op.95 Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor, Op.18 Beethoven Symphony No.5 in C minor, Op.67 “These Americans cannot get enough of it,” Sergei Rachmaninov said of his Second Piano Concerto during a tour of the USA. Indeed, who can resist such unforgettable melodies and fiendish pianism? Hear award-winning pianist Amir Farid join Dr Nicholas Milton AM and the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra in July for an unforgettable performance at The Concourse of one of the piano’s greatest masterpieces. The concert opens with Felix Mendelssohn’s dramatic Ruy Blas Overture, written with feverish intensity in a matter of days – a taut, exciting work that still thrills in the concert hall today. Few moments in music are as instantly recognisable as the four notes that begin Ludwig van Beethoven’s spectacular Fifth Symphony, the sound of fate knocking at the door. Written by a master composer struggling with hearing loss, amidst the turmoil of the Napoleonic Wars, this is music infused with revolutionary fervour and undoubtedly one of the greatest symphonies of all time. I am excited to present this recital of music by the dynamic husband and wife duo of Robert and Clara Schumann. A rarely heard work by Clara, and a powerhouse of the piano repertoire by Robert.
Date: Friday 29th May Time: 7pm The concert will be streamed live. Access to the stream can be purchased at the following website: http://melbournedigitalconcerthall.com/amir-farid-in-recital/ |
